A legendary Czech indie rock band
Tichá dohoda (named after the Czech translation of a famous book and movie by Elia Kazan „The Arrangement“) was founded in 1986 by a well known Czech guitarist, songwriter and producer Dan Šustr and Jiří Šimeček – the drummer of legendary czech punk Band Letadlo).
After their first post new-romantic period that had lasted for two years the original line-up split and the singer Blanka Šrůmová joined the band. With her the band reached great success and became one of the most important and innovative bands in the Czech republic in the 1990s.
Nowadays Tichá dohoda have the status of a legendary band – they are true pioneers of the Czech indie scene. Their stubborness, independent freeminded attitudes and opinions on sex and drugs and rock.n.roll labelled the band „difficult“ for a Czech „pop establishment“ in the late nineties. Despite their eight local hits, several local „Grammy“ nominations, their own unique music style called „underpop" (2nd album called „Underpop“ was released in 1992) and the first Czech unplugged record ever („UnplugGag“ 1994) the band didn´t seem to fit in the marketing plans of the major record labels and the last „official album“ was released by Sony Music in 1998 (Válcovna vkusu s.r.o. – Public Image Mill Plant ltd.). After eight years of silence the rock´n´roll monster has woken up.... ...and it´s back with full energy and a very loud performance of thein timeless songs!
